My name is Arzu Jamilova and I’m 39. I live with my family in Bellevue, WA, United States. I am originally from Azerbaijan where I own a small recruiting company Smart Resources Group since 2011. The company provides recruiting services to local and global companies. Prior to coming to the United States, I worked as the Executive Director of the company.
Before I started my own business, I held positions of the Human Resources Director at Azerfon and the Talent Acquisition Manager at Azercell. Both Azercell and Azerfon are two of the three major telecommunication companies in Baku, Azerbaijan.
My husband’s name is Ayaz Jamilov. He is a project manager. He is 45. He worked as a Project Manager in companies like Azercell, Nokia, Alcatel Lucent. We met while working together at Azercell.
We have three kids. Our elder son’s name is Attila. He is 15 and he attends Bellevue High School. Our middle son’s name is Tamerlan. He is 14 and he attends Chinook Middle School. The daughter’s name is Farah. She is 10 and she goes to Wilburton Elementary School.
I came to the United States on the E2 Investor Visa by opening a branch of my business. In 2016, I filed an affiliate company in Washington state, and later that year I received the initial E-2 Investor Visa through the Consulate Section of the Embassy of the United States of America in Baku, Azerbaijan. My husband and 3 kids were granted E-2 visas as my dependents. With dependent visas my husband is eligible to work, and the kids are eligible to study in the United States until they turn 21.
Residing and settling in took some time, and once we settled in, I started learning more about the recruiting industry in the United States and searched for prospective clients. As a result, I was able to build partnerships with bigger local recruitment companies hiring contractors for Microsoft, Amazon, and Expedia. Since then, I have been providing technology recruiting services for these major technology companies via my partner companies.
